Who we are

Promise & Proof is an applied AI consulting and implementation firm in New York, NY. Questions about this notice, or requests about your information, go to hello@promiseandproof.com.

What this website collects on its own

We measure how the site is used with Matomo, open-source analytics that we run ourselves on our own web host, so visit data is not shared with an analytics company and is never used for advertising. It is set up to collect as little as possible: it sets no cookies unless you opt out below, it removes the last two parts of your IP address before anything is stored, and if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, nothing is recorded. We see the pages viewed and how long each stays open, how visitors arrived, an approximate location (country, and sometimes region or city, estimated from the shortened IP address), device and browser details (such as type, model, screen size, and language), your local time of day, and how quickly pages load. We also count which buttons, links, and questions are used, for example that a form was started, failed a check, or was sent; that an email link was clicked; that a button was shown or clicked; or that a filter was changed in the model explorer. Errors in our own page code are recorded so we can fix them. We never record what you type into a form or a search box. Visits are grouped for at most one day by a one-way code that changes every day, and we do not use any of this to identify you. Raw visit records are deleted after 13 months. Nightly backups of this data are kept for about a month, so a deleted record can remain in a backup for that long.

The site uses no advertising pixels or third-party trackers, and sets no cookies of its own, with one exception: if you opt out below, a single cookie (mtm_consent_removed) remembers that choice on this browser. Our hosting provider’s security service may set a short-lived cookie to tell people from bots. Our fonts, images, and analytics script are served from our own domain. Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time) for security and troubleshooting. From those logs we count requests by AI assistants, AI and search engine crawlers, and page speed tools, by name, page, and time, without IP addresses.

If you choose “Discuss this shortlist” in the model explorer, the shortlist and the explorer link are kept in your browser’s session storage until the brief form opens, which places them in an empty message and clears them, or until you close the tab. The shortlist itself is not sent to us unless you submit the form.

If you choose “Save selection” in the model explorer, your model selection is kept in your browser’s local storage on this device until you clear it. It is never sent to us.

Opting out of measurement

Untick the box to stop this browser from being measured. Your choice is kept in the one cookie named above until you clear your cookies or your browser expires it: browsers such as Chrome and Edge keep it for about 13 months, and some, such as Safari, delete cookies set by a page’s own scripts after about a week, so you may need to opt out again. If no box appears, your browser is not running our analytics script and nothing is being recorded.

What you send us

If you use the get started form, we receive your name, email, company, and message, and anything optional you choose to add (your role, LinkedIn URL, where you are starting, timing, and who referred you). If you apply for a role, we receive your application: your name, email, links, location, your answers to the work-authorization and in-person questions, your resume, and your note.

How we use it

To reply to you, to scope a potential engagement, and to consider you for roles. We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or add you to a mailing list.

Where it is kept

Form submissions are emailed to our company mailbox, which is hosted by our email provider, and a copy is kept in a non-public folder with our web host so nothing is lost if an email fails. Access is limited to our team.

Spam protection

To keep spam out without a CAPTCHA, the forms use a hidden field and a short timing check, and we record a one-way hash of your IP address to limit repeated submissions. We do not store the IP address itself with your submission.

How long we keep it

We keep inquiries and applications only as long as we need them to reply, to run an engagement, or to consider you for roles, and we delete them on request.

Your choices

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to hello@promiseandproof.com. You can opt out of measurement at any time with the box under “Opting out of measurement”.
